Ecdysis

9-15.10.2023

ECDYSIS is a 1 week long creative journey designed for artists who want to rediscover their practice while living in an idyllic setting away from daily distractions and being stimulated by a rich program of activities valuing the benefits of collaborative art making. Artists interested in participating are invited to join ECDYSIS by bringing to the table a visual project where they feel particularly stuck and unsure how to develop further; this will be the first step of a long, transformative path.

What we propose is a creative journey for artists who want to rediscover their visual practice. During ECDYSIS, we will accompany you through a shifting process of perspectives while initiating a transformative path together with fellow participating artists. Through our program of creative workshops and collaborative proposals, we’ll stimulate artists to reflect on their personal practice and to explore themselves through contamination, while guiding them in every stage: from detaching, to deconstructing, rediscovering and reshaping.

Now, close your eyes
and imagine entering this scenario
in order to rediscover your creative practice,
as we guide you through a shifting process of perspectives
while initiating a transformative path together
with fellow participating artists.

On the way you may learn how to break
free from limitations
while developing new expressions
that can flow back into your practice
and help you approach your project
with a fresh perspective.

We put a special emphasis on the process
because we believe that there lay the most unexpected,
fantastic discoveries.

The term ecdysis comes from Ancient Greek ἐκδύω (ekduo) meaning to ‘take off’ and it describes the process by which a variety of species shed their old skin. Somewhere in the hills of Tuscany, in an inspirational scenario immersed in nature, we invite you to undergo your own ecdysis.
